Brent’s an area we’re very familiar with as we’ve been working here for the past ten years. The programme has been developed in partnership with the Jason Roberts Foundation and Hornstars, using methodology we’ve established as part of our successful Urban Stars initiative.
Thanks to our friends at Metropolitan Housing, Hyde Housing, Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, St James's Place Foundation, ASDA Foundation and Big Lottery Fund we’ve been able to grow our projects. To date we’ve helped more than 1,263 young people.
More recently ACN has developed both accredited and non-accredited training courses, giving young people the opportunity to develop new skills and build their own personal portfolio. And it doesn’t end there - everyone who takes part is offered the chance to further their learning and gain a qualification.
Here in Brent, a total of 306 young people have attained one of the following qualifications:
- OCN Equalities and Diversity Level one
- FA Level 1 Coaching Badge
- FA Level 1 Referee Badge
- Golf Trust Outreach Qualification
- Introduction to Mentoring
- Jason Roberts Foundation Aim Higher
- Award in Developing Community Activities for Youth at Risk level one.
For those whose interests lie outside sport, we can arrange impressive work experience placements with our London-based partners. Young people from Brent have gained experience with both the Golf Trust and the Jason Roberts Foundation Scholarship, which is directed at young people who want to have a successful career in business.
