QUALIFICATIONS AND COURSES FOR PROFESSIONALS

These courses are for older more experienced volunteers or workers who are already working with young people in communities. We deliver a series of professional development courses, both accredited and non-accredited to help build your workforce.  

 
 
 

Accredited qualifications

Open College Network Level 2 Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

This qualification provides people working in different communities with the knowledge and skills to work effectively with different social groups; encouraging diversity and promoting inclusion.

Open College Network Level 2 Award in Youth Work Practice

For those who are new to youth work, this qualification will introduce learners to the basic principles and practices of youth work including; roles and responsibilities, communication, referral processes and safeguarding.

This course can be delivered over a minimum of 6 days and learners must have at least one years’ experience of working in a youth work setting.

1st4sport Level 1 Award in Developing Community Activities for Youth at Risk

An excellent starting point for those who are new to youth or community work. Great for sports coaches who want to use their skills to use sport to engage with hard to reach young people in challenging environments.

2 day course

 
 
 

1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Delivering Community Activities for Youth at Risk

This qualification is aimed at those who are already working with young people in communities and requires learners to demonstrate more in depth understanding of topics such as issues faced by deprived communities, partnership working, building resilience in young people, volunteer management and measuring impact of community projects.

A 4 day course + 30 hours planning and delivery time

 
 

Non-Accredited Qualifications

WORKING WITH CHALLENGING BEHAVIOR 

Explore the factors that contribute to challenging behaviour in young, how to manage it and move forward positively. Idea for those with limited experience of working with challenging groups of young people.

DEVELOPING YOUNG PEOPLE AS PEER MENTORS

For youth workers or sports coaches who wish to develop their young volunteers to help mentor and support other young people. This course covers what mentoring is, the benefits to mentoring, identifying skills and attributes in your mentors and how to manage mentors and mentees.

1 day course

 

USING SPORT TO BUILD RESILIENCE IN YOUNG PEOPLE

Aimed at people already working in communities who want to gain a better understanding as to how their projects can help build resilience in young people. Explore what we actually mean by resilience, look at real life examples and take part in activities that can be used with young people.

1-2 days depending on the needs of the group
