Hannah Rankin is a super welterweight female boxer currently ranked No. 4 in the world by the WBC, WBA and IBF. Her goal is to become Scotland’s first female World Champion in 2019. The Scottish boxer started her career practicing Muay Thai in Glasgow before moving to London where she met Noel Callan and Derek Williams, who re-directed her talents and encouraged her to take up boxing. Now 5 years later, having competed in Scotland, Norway, London and America against opponents including 2x Olympic champion and current middleweight world champion Claressa Shields and with six wins to her name since gaining her professional card, Hannah is a serious competitor looking to gain titles at World level and compete against the best.
Outside of the boxing ring, Hannah’s determination continues to be prevalent in everything she does. As a classically trained musician, Hannah plays the Bassoon in orchestras in and around London, across Europe and has been as far afield as Mauritius and India! She is often in the spotlight and is used to the pressure of performing at an elite level.
Having always participated in sports and arts Hannah is a firm believer that activities can teach you many new skills including teamwork, discipline, organisation and most importantly allows you to meet other like minded people and build friendships in your local community. She hopes that by joining ACN as an ambassador she can inspire other young people to get involved in sport, especially young women, and help them to discover new skills and get active.
