Active Communities Network delivers the Big World Impact Programme for young people aged primarily 9-19 in Leigh Park, Havant. The staff team is based and working out of Leigh Park Community Centre and will be developing into Hayling Island in late 2016 with further growth within Hampshire expected in 2017.
The programme has been operating since 2014 and includes, weekly sports, arts and cultural activity, accredited training, personal and social development, regular youth forums, and awareness raising workshops, tackling relevant community issues with a focus on supporting the Safer Communities agenda.
The programme has developed notable successful close partnership working with Hampshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner and Hampshire Police. Other strong partnerships include, Havant Borough Council departments and Hampshire County Council’s (Children Services) and the Tennis Foundation.
The team is also working with numerous local sports clubs and arts based organisations with collaborative project work through the arts resulting in high profile recognition
There is continuing partnership work with 15 local schools and colleges and ongoing placements and joint working with the University of Portsmouth, across a number of faculties.
