Active Communities Network has an established office and staff team based and working out of East Manchester (Miles Platting). After a period of project delivery in Salford (2010-13) we sustained delivery through our partnership with the Rio Ferdinand Foundation. Since late 2013 we have been developing a solid base and foundation in East Manchester based on the advice of local strategic partners.
We offer the young people we come into contact with opportunities to engage in fun, healthy and inspiring sports activities, from dance, football, basketball to mentoring, support and accreditation alongside, healthy lifestyle and personal choice workshops along with workforce development for young people, volunteers, partners and the wider youth sector community.
Sessions on offer run Monday to Saturday across East Manchester and are delivered from Ten Acres Lane Sports Complex in Newton Heath, the Manchester Tennis & Football Centre in Ancoats and Wright Robinson Sports College in Gorton. All sessions are free to attend.
We recognise that only by working in partnership can we offer a dedicated holistic service to the young people of Manchester and that is why we work with partners such as Manchester City Council, Eastlands Trust, Manchester Community Giants Basketball Team and TDS Dance.
