Following our recent recruitment process, Active Communities Network are pleased to announce the appointment of Zenna Hopson as our new CEO from April 2019.
Zenna comes with a wealth of senior management experience across the public, private and charitable sectors, including winning the Ernst and Young entrepreneur of the year in 2000 for setting up a charity working with young people to reduce crime, before going on to run Social Solutions, a highly successful social business, for 10 years. Zenna is also a former chairman of OFSTED and brings with her extensive experience in the education sector, including policy and experience working at a senior level across Government departments.
In a personal capacity Zenna also sat on the board of the Royal Navy as a Non-Executive Director, and chaired the audit committee there for 9 years.
Zenna will join our team from March as part of a handover process with our outgoing CEO Gary Stannett, before formally taking over the role from April.
John Hadley - Chair of Trustees
‘I am thrilled to welcome Zenna on board as our new CEO from April. Zenna has extensive experience across the various sectors and areas we work within as well as a demonstrable commitment to supporting young people. Zenna will use that experience to build on the fantastic work the organisation has done over the last 12 years, and to lead the organisation into the next stage of our development.’
‘ I am absolutely delighted to be joining Active Communities Network. I have long been a supporter of the charity and am really looking forward to working with the team to continue to grow and develop its reach and services in the coming years. I am especially excited about leading an organisation that engages so many young people, using sport to provide them with skills, qualifications and opportunities to succeed in life.’
