Over the years, we have seen a continued high number of young people affected by violence, sadly, in some cases, the devastating loss of young Londoner’s Lives. In recognition of this we have become one of the eight funded MyEnds programmes across London, leading a Southwark consortium funded by the London Violence Reduction Unit.
For the past two years, we have been working in targeted areas in Southwark. We found that working with young people’s families is as important as working with young people themselves. The Unheard Voice project was commissioned by the MyEnds collective, allowing different parts of the community to speak up about the root causes of violence in their communities.
The next phase of our work is to highlight parents’ views and identify the support they need to help their children get into positive pathways and navigate the complex systems they face with school and statutory services.
