GOALS + programme is a 4 year programme designed to support young people into education, training and employment. The programme will offer a package of mentoring, accredited training and support to aid participants on a progression pathway based upon their needs, interests and relevant further training, education or employment opportunities.
The project is aimed at young people from the Belfast Area and who are NEET (Not in Education, Training or Employment).
The targets of the programme are:
- Participants will complete one or more Level 1 accredited training
- Participants will receive mentoring
- Participants will undertake work placements based upon their needs, interests and local employment opportunities
- Participants will be supported into employment as a direct result of their participation in the project
- Participants will be supported into further training, return to education or advance to higher
- education as a result of their participation in the project.
- To date, within the first year we have worked with 113 young people who are NEET. Our programme has provided opportunities for young people to receive Level 1 accreditations in Employability, Positive time management training and First Aid.
We have had 25 young people move onto training programmes and 40 young people have moved into employment. Our programme offers job search support for young people and placement opportunities for young people in different fields of employment.
We offer a 1:1 mentoring service to help empower and support young people in making more positive life choices.
