Supporting Southwark Residents on their civic leadership journey, equipping them with the skills, confidence and insight needed to step into civic roles in the Borough.
The Southwark Civic Leadership Programme, funded by Southwark Council, offers 50 residents in Southwark access to training to become Civic Leaders in and around Southwark. Bringing diverse experiences, perspectives and a shared commitment to civic leadership, Southwark residents take part in a bespoke 9-month training and leadership programme that equips participants with the skills, confidence, and knowledge to engage in governance infrastructures and influence key institutions that affect residents’ daily lives. Coordinated and run by Active Communities Network, the aim of the programme is to educate and inspire community driven solutions in areas of health, education, policing, crime and bettering our communities.
Throughout the programme, diverse leadership for Southwark Civic institutions are developed, to have a huge impact on the quality of life of the people of the borough – residents are transformed into the civic leaders of tomorrow, those who will sit at the table and shape decisions that impact us all in Southwark and further.
The programme ran between 2024 and 2026.
